This is the sort of thing where if you must ask, you can't afford it.
Motherships are roughly 20B ISK to build, must be built by an alliance with sovereignity in 0.0, cannot use normal stargates and rely on alts/other players to pop up cyno fields, and they CANNOT be docked, thus you're pretty much stuck in that ship from login to log-off.
The only way to transfer ownership of a mothership is to eject and have the new pilot board. I doubt there's enough trust in all EVE for such a transfer.
Short version: it's an alliance investment, not a solo pimpmobile (though some mothership pilots like to sit at certain lowsec gates officer smartbombing everything that comes through).

Yeah, many people would be glad to melt a POS shield (and they can be taken down quite easily by a gang of dreads) just to get at a mothership. And note that without support, your mothership's going to be a sitting duck.

Do this, and someone WILL bump it out of the shields. MSes shouldn't be ejected, ever.
Isn't that POS bowling? That's a bannable offense now. You're safe from that.
Of course, you are NOT safe from someone getting into the POS shield, either by trickery or a gang of dreads and stealing the mothership.

People dislike mothership pilots doing this. Very, very badly. You're likely to find yourself a wanted man. And then this will happen.
1) Neutted down till you can't jump to another system.
2) Bumped so you can't align for warp.
3) Ganked by 40 dreads simultaneously.
